My analysis focused on the balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement, using frameworks like the DuPont model to evaluate profitability and shareholder value.
2. Researcher & Data Interpreter
I collected and interpreted Costco’s financial data from SEC filings and verified secondary sources.
I analyzed year-over-year changes in:
Merchandise Inventory (Balance Sheet)
Membership Fees (Income Statement)
Capital Expenditures (Cash Flow Statement)
3. Analyst & Writer
I structured my findings into a professional memo-style report, presenting a data-driven narrative that connected Costco’s operational performance to its financial outcomes.
4. Strategic Evaluator
I applied MBA-level finance concepts — including GAAP principles, ratio analysis, and DuPont decomposition — to assess Costco’s Return on Equity (ROE) and overall financial health.
This project examines Costco Wholesale Corporation’s 2024 financial performance through a comprehensive analysis of its balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow activities. The goal was to evaluate Costco’s operational efficiency, profitability, and intrinsic valuation using accounting principles, ratio analysis, and valuation modeling.
To bring the findings to life, the final report was transformed into a visual presentation (now hosted on YouTube), combining data storytelling with professional finance insight.
